Barber is known for his focus on using local, sustainable ingredients and has written several books on the subject. In 2009, Barber was named "Best Chef: New York City" by the James Beard Foundation. He is also known for his TED Talk, "How I Fell in Love With a Fish" in which he highlighted the importance of understanding the origins of food and the impact of our food choices on the planet.
